Nickel Release & REACH Testing
KuGOLD reports nickel testing as nickel release, not as a percentage of nickel content. These are different measurements, and a non-detect result should not be described as proof of zero nickel.
What was tested
The referenced REACH nickel-release report covered two submitted sample groups: a gold-colored chain and a gold-colored chain clasp. Both sample groups recorded the same results under the report's A, B and C measurements.
| Measurement | Nickel release |
|---|---|
| A | N.D. (not detected) |
| B | 0.020 μg/cm²/week |
| C | 0.021 μg/cm²/week |
The highest reported nickel-release value was 0.021 μg/cm²/week. The report classified both submitted sample groups as PASS.
How to understand the result
- The report measures the amount of nickel released under the test conditions; it does not state a nickel-content percentage.
- N.D. means not detected under the applicable test conditions and detection capability. It is not an absolute statement that the material contains zero nickel.
- The PASS conclusion applies to the submitted gold-colored chain and clasp samples covered by the report. It should not be read as a blanket certification of every KuGOLD product or component.
Individual sensitivities
Individual responses to jewelry vary. A passing nickel-release result does not guarantee that a product will suit every wearer. If you have a known metal allergy, contact us before ordering so we can confirm whether the available testing is relevant to the specific product and component you are considering. Discontinue wear if irritation develops.
